All I know is that I read a biography about Eva Braun by Nerin Gun, which I believe was for many years the only researched biography about the woman and one which I found at my public library in the 1970s.
Anyway, in it, he states that Eva received from her mad-monster of a lover not only one of the first Volkswagons, but that he also put at her "disposal" a Mercedes, a 3.2 cabriolet (I know nothing about cars, so maybe that is more impressive than it sounds to me.) According to the author, the vehicle was a gift to HItler from the managing director of the Daimler-Benz company, so it's not like the jerk actually went out and spent money for his girlfriend on a luxury vehicle. He just was being pandered to by a local businessman and so he tossed one of his toys in her direction. He probably had more than his fill, picking up countries, and killing people, not collecing cars, was his thing.
I don't know if this woman with more than questionable taste in men actually drove the car, but according to the book a chauffeur in SS uniform did the driving for her, and she was seen doing her shopping out in this mercedes with the intimidating driver behind the wheel. - Devrea
