AC4817 Automobile Driving Trainer. The world’s first driver’s education classes were developed at Lane Technical High School in Chicago, Illinois, and used this machine during the 1930′s and 1940’s to help students gain the feel of a moving vehicle before going on the road. Coupled with a motion picture, students learned how to work the controls of an automobile before venturing out on the open road. This two-seat unit is made of oak and bears the markings of Lane Tech as well as a plaque describing how it was used.
